Indonesian Police had made an official release to the public, denying the existence of BCL-Ariel DVD in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.
"It doesn't exists, I already saw it all" said Ito Sumardi, General Commissioner of Indonesian Police Headquarter.
Rumor of the existence of BCL-Ariel DVD in Manado had been circulating for almost a month, but no one had really see the DVD. The rumor started at June 10, 2010 when Tribun Manado, a local newspaper in Manado, publishing a headline story about their interview with DVD seller in Manado. In the interview, the DVD seller admitted that they have the BCL-Ariel DVD and sell it for Rp. 60,000 (US$6).
Manado residents, upon reading the news, starts looking for the DVD. The DVD sellers who see this as an opportunity, start producing DVD labeled as BCL-Ariel DVD, but in fact, the movie inside is a Garfield cartoon movie.
Many people had been scammed by this DVD (including me who stupidly believe the rumor and buy a copy of the DVD), but rumor about the existence of BCL-Ariel DVD keep circulating and become national concern.
