In the Nokia Connection 2010 event held in Singapore, Nokia shows off some of its smartphones to the Asia Pacific media. Of course, in the full-day event, N8 is one of the most interesting product to the visitors.
Held in Conrad Centennial Hotel, Balontang had chance to run a quick test on N8. Although only a quick run, Balontang can be assured that N8 could be a strong competitor to the other screen touch mobile phone.
First thing to see is from its design. Nokia N8, of course, very futuristic as a screen touch phone. If most of full touchscreen smartphones rely on think and long shape, Nokia N8 uses a 'robotic' style with curves on the edges.
Nokia N8 has a 3.5 inches screen, with 640x360 pixels. Very unfortunate, because most of touchscreen smartphones uses 4 inches screen. Fortunately the image quality is good to cover the small size.
From all features of N8, the most prominent one, of course, the main camera of N8. How not, N8 is the mobile phone in Nokia which have the highest camera resolution, that is 12MP, with Xenon Flash.
When tested inside and outside the room, this mobile phone could perfectly captured and image as good as pocket camera.
The 12MP resolution comes better with video recording feature with HD720p. When Balontang tested it outdoor, at night, the quality it produces is good, noise can be reduced although not perfectly. And the most important is the video recording still stable when the phone swayed.
Photos and videos taken, can also edited using an easy to use video editor. The results can be viewed directly, using HDMI port to displays the pictures and videos on TV, just like playing a DVD player.
One more interesting feature is the Web TV which can be used to watch certain local TV station, anytime, anywhere.
What special from Nokia N8 is the Operating System. This mobil phone is the first phone to use Symbian ^3 OS which is the most recent OS from Symbian. With this OS, user can experience the N8 features into maximum.
The price of Nokia N8 is around 390 Euros.
