Argentina's winning over Nigeria hits with critics. Argentina's single goal scored by Gabriel Heinze considered as invalid. Referee should canceled the goal.
In the first match in World Cup Group B in Soccer City, last June 12, Heinze scored a winning goal to Nigeria's goal in the 6th minute, utilizing Sabastian Veron's corner kick. The Marseille player unexpectedly run from behind and doing a diving header. The ball hit the net unblocked.
But after assesing the goal, FIFA considered there is a foul happened at the crucial moment. At the same time as Heinze scored the goal, Argentina's defender Walter Samuel is holding Chinedu Obasi who was going to mark Heinze. Referee Wolfgang Stark should canceled the goal, and give a free kick to Nigeria.
FIFA Referee Committee released their founding to make Heinze's goal as an example to the referee for the next matches. They insist that referee must be extra careful in watching players movements, specially like what Samuel did, at free kick or corner kick situation.
Although the rules has been late for Nigeria, the release by FIFA could be a yellow light to the players that FIFA will not tolerate pulling, pushing, and holding opponent player in the situation of de4d ball.
If the foul still happened, punishment to the team could be a penalty kick or goal cancelation, depends on who did the foul and where the foul happened.
