The hard task for Simon become impossible task to win the match after the first set. Simon start the match quite excellent in the first set, beating Jin Chen 21-19.
But in the second set, Jin Chen get up and controls Simon's play. Many times Simon failed to hit the shuttle, giving clear advantage to Jin Chen. In this set, Jin Chen, who is ranked third in BWF rank, pull a tie 1-1 with 21-17 score.
In the third set, Simon's game drastically dropped, and lost many points from Jin Chen. Simon often make 'funny' mistakes. In this deciding set, Simon has lost his energy. Simon can't keep up to Jin Chen's long rallies.
Jin Chen closed the third set with absolute win 21-7, but many times the referee decision giving advantage to Jin Chen.
With the loss of Simon, China leading 3-0 over Indonesia and retained the Thomas Cup 2010 trophy. Before, Taufik Hidayat lost to Lin Dan, and duo Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan kneel before Cun Yai/Fu Haifeng.
